National Technology Day on 11th May

Pokhran-2 is part of a series of five atomic bomb tests conducted on the Pokhran test range in May 1998. This was the second Indian nuclear test; The first trial, code-named Smiling Buddha (Smiling Buddha), was conducted in May 1974.

On May 11 and 13, 1998, five nuclear tests were conducted at the Pokhran nuclear site in Rajasthan. These included a fusion nuclear device of 45 kilotons. It is commonly known as a hydrogen bomb. 

The nuclear test on May 11 included 15 kilotons of fission equipment and 0.2 kilotons of accessories. After these nuclear tests, various types of sanctions were imposed against India by major countries including Japan and the United States.  

The Indian intelligence agency was aware of American spy satellites and the American CIA had been trying to track Indian test preparations since 1985. Therefore, the test was kept completely confidential in India to avoid the possibility of detection by other countries.

2. Coronavirus: Historian Hari Shankar Vasudevan's death from Corona,

Hari Vasudevan (died 10 May 2020) was an Indian scholar notable for his work on the history of Russia and Europe, and India-Russia relations. He died on 10 May 2020 from the coronavirus disease at the age of 68.

Vasudevan was an expert on European and Russian history and Indo-Russian relations. He was Professor of the Department of History at the University of Calcutta and Director of the Chinese Center. Prior to this, he served as Director of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata under the Union Ministry of Culture.

Travels through Eurasia and India in the early 21st century' in 2015 and 'Shadows of Substance: Indo-Russian Trade and Military-Technical Cooperation' in 2010. 

He edited and co-authored numerous books. He married Tapati Guha-Thakurta and has a daughter. Tapati Guha-Thakurta is a director and professor in history at Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta. Hari Vasudevan tested positive for COVID-19 on 5/6 May and died from the virus on 10 May 2020.

3. FIH President Narinder Batra's term extended till May 2021
The term of International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Narinder Batra has been extended till May 2021. The tenure of FIH President Batra and members of the executive board was to end in October this year. But due to the postponement of the 47th Congress of FIH, his tenure has been extended for the next one year. The 47th FIH Congress has been postponed until May next year. The 47th FIH Congress was scheduled to meet on 28 October this year.

4. Indian Government Started a New Mission for “Mission Sagar” to assist Island Nations in EIO


Indian Government Started on “Mission Sagar” on 10th May 2020 to provide assistance to Eastern India Ocean Region Nations for the Coronavirus crisis. The main objectives of the Sea Friendship Mission are to collect data from across the North Indian Ocean, focusing on the Andaman Sea and surrounding seas, and establish long-term cooperation with eight IOR countries in the field of ocean research and development.

Under the Prime Minister's policy, the specific scientific component of DRDO is "MAITRI (Marine and Allied Interdisciplinary Training and Research Initiative)".
The objective of this program is to establish long-term scientific cooperation with these countries with an emphasis in the Andaman Sea and in the field of ocean R&D 'and data collection.

5. ICMR joins hands with Bharat Biotech | Corona prepares        to make indigenous vaccine.

Preparation to make 300 million vaccine doses Regarding the discovery of the vaccine, Bharat Biotech business development head Rechas Ella said, "We will create vaccines, conduct clinical trials and also prepare for distribution globally by creating at least 300 million vaccine doses."

6. The co-operative bank under SARFAESI Act

What do you mean by “SARFAESI Act”

Sarfaesi Act means 'Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest', Act, 2002 will be applicable to state and Multi-state co-operative banks
This decision of the bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra came in the context of a case in which Section 2 (C) of the SARFAESI Act was amended and co-operative banks were included in such institutions which were given under this Act for loan recovery May exercise powers.

key points:

In 2013, the Gujarat High Court, while hearing a petition challenging the amendment of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, to include co-operatives as financial institutions, ruled that co-operative banks cannot recover loans under the SARFAESI Act Huh.

The Supreme Court bench clarified that cooperative banks also fall under the definition of 'bank' given in section 2 (1) (c) of the Act. Hence the recovery procedure prescribed under section (13) of the Act also applies to cooperative banks. The Preset CJI is Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.

8. SBI General Insurance also launched Arogya Sanjeevani Health Insurance.

SBI General Insurance has also launched Arogya Sanjeevani Health Insurance. This insurance is quite economical and with the launch by SBI General Insurance, people of rural India will also be able to take advantage of it.

Under Arogya Sanjeevani Health Insurance, all insurance companies have to provide minimum coverage of Rs 1 lakh and the maximum coverage is Rs 5 lakh. This policy will be available on both individual and family floater basis. Anyone 18 to 65 years old can take this policy. Its cover also includes the treatment of coronavirus, so that those taking this policy do not have to take corona cover separately.

This policy can be easily renewed. The policyholder can also include his / her spouse, parents, in-laws, dependent children between 3 months to 25 years apart from themselves. Installments can be deposited on an annual, half-yearly, quarterly, or monthly basis. There will be a 30-day grace period for the annual premium payment mode. While all other modes will get a grace period of 15 days.
